A Queensland woman has been accused of drugging then murdering her husband of 45 years.

Judith Ann Venn, 66, appeared in Cleveland Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

She has been charged with the murder of her 64-year-old husband Lance Hilton Venn in an alleged domestic violence incident.

7NEWS understands paramedics found the man with injuries to his arms, while Judith Venn was unconscious.

Police will allege Venn drugged her husband with prescription medication.

Once he was asleep, she allegedly cut his wrists before taking the same medication herself.

Emergency services were able to revive Venn and take her to hospital as police investigators arrived.

Venn was remanded in custody on Tuesday until a further mention in the Cleveland court on October 29.
