Five years ago, Gillian Triggs took charge of our Human Rights Commission. Since then, the commission proceeded to:
Destroy the concept of freedom of speech in Australia and eroding other fundamental freedoms,
Persecute the likes of Bill Leak and the QUT students for expressing reasonable and mainstream views,
Play partisan games with our border protection.
Finally, with her term set to end in August, we have a chance to appoint someone who really cares about fundamental human rights, especially freedom of speech. Dr. Augusto Zimmermann is this person.
He appeared on the Bolt Report to make the case for his candidature, and spoke eloquently about wanting the commission to protect Australians’ right to free speech, not hinder it. You can find segments of the interview here: facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=452087185149416&id=230629237295213
We finally have the chance to put a conservative who cares about freedom of speech in the Human Rights Commission presidency. We cannot miss this opportunity. Tell George Brandis and Malcolm Turnbull we want Dr. Zimmermann as President of the Human Rights Commission. SIGN THIS PETITION!
