Police were called to home at Ronald Street, Tenambit in the NSW Hunter region at 7.20pm yesterday.
Police allege Maddison Hickson had been arguing with her father, Michael Carrol, inside a home when she allegedly stabbed him in the abdomen.
It’s alleged Hickson initially fled the scene but returned a short time later.
She was arrested by police and charged overnight. It is not yet clear what prompted the alleged attack.
NSW Police Detective Acting Inspector Ranald Urquhart said it was being treated as a domestic violence murder.
Hickson was to face Newcastle Bail Court today.
